United States Botanic Garden

Located at the Nation's Mall at the foot of the U.S. Capitol, visitors to the United States Botanic Garden can see exhibits that include nearly 4,000 living specimens.  The United States Botanic Garden is the oldest continually operating botanic garden in the United States.  Admission to all public areas of the U.S. Botanic Garden (USBG) is free. The Conservatory is open 10 AM - 5 PM daily.

Conservatory: The newly renovated Conservatory in the United States Botanic Garden offers residents and visitors to Washington a beautiful and fascinating living plant museum.

Bartholdi Park was created in 1932 and named for Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the historic fountain located at its center. The beds in the Park were geometrically arranged and planted in formal classical style to feature the fountain and to accommodate public gatherings. The plantings have been redesigned during the last decade and are continuously updated to reflect modern trends in American horticulture and new plant introductions. The Park now serves as a home landscape demonstration garden and showcases innovative plant combinations in a variety of styles and design themes.

The National Garden:  The upcoming National Garden will be a major American public garden comprising a center for environmental, horticultural and botanical education and will be this country's premier showcase for unusual, useful and ornamental plants that grow well in the mid-Atlantic region.  It will be built on a three-acre site immediately adjacent to the Botanic Garden Conservatory and the U.S. Capitol.
