Smithsonian National Zoological Park

The National Zoological Park of the Smithsonian Institution, is home to thousands of animals from all over the world.  It is located in a beautiful urban park of 163 acres in the heart of the nation's capital.  Learn about science and conservation efforts in the wild while learning about the wonderfully diverse species in the collection.

The National Zoo is located in northwest Washington, D.C.  Although there are several entrances to the National Zoo, during Homeland Security Orange Threat Level, the only reliable entrance is at Connecticut Avenue.  At other times you may find entrances on the east side near Rock Creek Park, and at the intersection of Harvard Street and Adams Mill Road. 

Admission is FREE Hours April–October: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily November–March: 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. daily Open every day of the year, weather permitting, except December 25
