Smithsonian Institution Building/ The Castle

Begin your visit to the DC area with a stop at  "the Castle".   Located in the Mall,  the Castle functions as the  Information Center for the Smithsonian Institute.  It is the first and oldest building in the complex and houses the crypt of its founder.   Two orientation theaters will familiarize you with the Institute's 14 museums and the National Zoo.  Also featured are electronic maps and a scale model of Washington with city-wide points of interest.  

Admission is FREE Hours 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. daily Closed December 25
